FIVE reasons why Manchester United will win the league this season
Manchester United are getting stronger
With the returning Wayne Rooney, Manchester United are without a doubt a stronger team. They started the season in stuttering form but are now finding their imagination, flair and craft. Every player in the squad has improved since the start of the season, something Arsenal and Chelsea can’t boast. Even without playing well, Manchester United find themselves at the top of the Premier League. Manchester United are getting better and this has to worry the other title contenders.
Confidence is high
The confidence in the squad must be sky high at the moment. Not only have the proved they can compete in the Premier League without Wayne Rooney, they have gone15 games without defeat. It is an achievement the players should be proud of, and it should give the squad great confidence going into the winter months. For as long as they keep this record, the squad will feel they can beat anyone. If teams start to fear Manchester United this season, it can only be a good thing for Sir Alex Ferguson.
The return of Antonio Valencia
Antonio Valencia has become a very important player for Manchester United and his return will give the squad an in particular Wayne Rooney a boost. He and Rooney link up so well and Valencia contributed to a vast amount of Wayne Rooney’s goals last season. Having a player of Valencia’s ability returning in February will be like a new signing – and he will give Nani and Park Ji-Sung a well needed rest. United will have strong attacking options going into the business end of the season.
January signings
A lot has been said about Manchester United in the midst of Wayne Rooney’s comments about the lack of ambition at the club. There is a reported £80m war chest for Sir Alex Ferguson to re model his squad. If Manchester United need to sign a player of real quality in January it looks as though they will. If Sir Alex Ferguson could add a player like Bastian Schweinsteiger to his squad, United would look a different team – one that would have to be considered favourites for the Premier League
Is this the last one?
There has been a lot of talk that this could be the last season for Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes. Sir Alex Ferguson said in an interview this weekend that he expects Edwin van der Sar to retire come the end of the season. If it is to be the last season for these great players, what an incentive for Manchester United to win the league. What a fitting tribute it would be for these players to be paraded around Old Trafford with the trophy come May. It would give the club an added incentive, which could see them cross the line first.
