Arsenal keep top-four race alive, Liverpool fans react

Arsenal’s hopes of securing a Champions League spot remain intact, which is not the best news for Liverpool.

The Gunners headed into Tuesday night’s game against Sunderland with the knowledge that a win would give them a shot at the top four on the final day of the season this Sunday.

They were frustrated by the already-relegated side for 70 minutes until Alexis Sanchez struck to put Arsenal ahead at the Emirates.

The Chilean doubled their lead nine minutes later to claim a 2-0 triumph, which means that a position inside the top four is still available.

It is not in Arsenal’s hands, though, because if Liverpool overcome relegated Middlesbrough at Anfield, a Champions League spot will be theirs.

If Jurgen Klopp’s men are beaten at home and the Gunners earn a victory over Everton, then the North London outfit join the top four, but if Arsene Wenger’s team draw 1-1 with the Toffees and the Reds lose 2-0, a playoff will be staged.

After the full-time whistle between Arsenal and Sunderland, Liverpool fans gave their reaction to the situation on Twitter.
